They was used in water, the thick rubber sole protected kid feet and provided excellent slip resistance.

Are they flexible and lightweight enough for a child who is actually in the water?

Yes, very soft uppers and sturdy but lightweight soles...My grandson wears them in the water all the time. Nice little shoe. Does not irritate the skin at all.

Do they have good grip on bottom or slippery ?

They are a rubber sole. We had no problems with them being slippery wet or dry.
